Ronald Dee "Ron" Simpson

Ronald Dee “Ron” Simpson, 74 of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.  He was born in Caryville, TN on April 11, 1949 to Roscoe O. Simpson and Wilma Jo Simpson Woolley.

Ron worked as a sales manager for Associated Door and Plywood and as an instructor and salesman at Fairway Golf. He was a member of West Side Christian Church and Terre Haute Elks Lodge BPOE# 86.  His family always came first, and was an avid golfer and loved coaching, he was an excellent mentor to his players while coaching girls’ basketball at West Vigo High School and coached Little League Baseball in West Terre Haute for many years.  He loved all sports, but especially enjoyed following the Colts and IU basketball.

Ron is survived by his wife Joyce Cox Simpson, whom he married December 23, 1967 and his two children, Leslee Saylor (Dan), and Ross Simpson (Jill).  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Danielle Clark (Caleb), Grant Saylor (Cortni), Allison Holland (Kyle), Tanner Simpson (Marley), Drew Simpson, and Rylan Simpson, and his great grandchildren; Leighton Clark, Lyndee Clark, and Danica Holland, his siblings; James Simpson, Maggie Braden, Bob Woolley, Debbie Williams, and Greg Woolley, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Wanda Fox, Joann Switzer, and Wesley Woolley.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at West Side Christian Church, 126 N. 8th St., West Terre Haute, IN on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 5:00 PM, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow services.  Friends may visit and share stories with the family at the Church from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions can be made to West Side Christian Church or VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley, in his memory.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
