Albert Hiram Poppe, 89, of Indianapolis, IN formerly of West Terre Haute passed away at 4:07 a.m. Tuesday March 28, 2017 in his residence. He retired as an electrician from Allison Transmission at Indianapolis after many years of service and later retired from Avon Electric at Avon, IN. He was born December 21, 1927 at Nashville, IN to Albert Leroy Poppe and Pearlie Mae Smith Poppe. His Wife, Colleen Chesshir Poppe whom he married on June 18, 1949 at West Terre Haute preceded him in death on March 3, 2005. Survivors include: three daughters Sharon Montgomery, Gayle Austin and her husband Greg, and Robin Borer and her husband Jerry; Two sisters Linda Keifer and Ruth Buchanan; two brothers Herman Poppe and his wife Marsha and Jerry Poppe and his wife Jackie; eight grandchildren: Misty Anderson, Todd Anderson, Shawn Cordray, Justin Poppe, Renee Davidson, Amber Greene, Amanda Schultz, and Ashley Geisler; twenty great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Denise Poppe; a son-in-law Danny Montgomery; three granddaughters Angelica Renee Cortez, Hope Anderson, and Neveah Anderson; a grandson Michael Landon Cordray; three sisters and five brothers. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army and later retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church at Brownsburg, IN. He had been an avid bowler for many years. Sharing the love for the Lord was his greatest passion. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis DeWitt officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 12:00 noon until service time Sunday.
