Alfred Leroy Cox, 94 of Indianapolis and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away at 8:26 PM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in Robin Run Assisted Living, Indianapolis. He was born in New Goshen, IN on February 12, 1924 to William Alfred Cox and Goldie Standish Cox.
Alfred was a Navy Veteran, having served in WW II as an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd class in the Pacific. In civilian life he was a field service engineer for the Burroughs Corporation and after retirement from there, he drove part time for Wolfe’s Auto Auction for over 20 years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and loved to travel in his RV with his wife.
Alfred is survived by his wife Frances Aletha Crowell Cox, whom he married February 11, 1951. He is also survived by his son David William Cox (wife Linda), as well as two grandchildren; Benjamin William Cox (wife Katie), and Rachel Ann Cox. In addition, he is also survived by three great grandchildren; Alexa Cox, Lillian Cox, and Bradley Cox. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Dorothy Love, Audrey Deuschle, and Mary Morris.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute. Graveside services are scheduled immediately following at 12:15 PM at Rosehill Cemetery, with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Lewy Body Dementia Association, in his memory.
