Bessie M. (Peters) Shattuck

Bessie Marie Shattuck, 79, of Terre Haute went to be with The Lord at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, surrounded by family, following a battle with breast cancer.

Bessie was born September 30, 1938 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the daughter of Fred and Myrtle Peters. Bessie married her husband of 27 years, Frank C. Shattuck Sr. on her birthday, September 30, 1959.

Bessie especially enjoyed taking walks with her daughter, Tina.

She is survived by her sons, Frank C. Shattuck, Jr. (Peggy) and Patrick W. Shattuck (Valli); her daughter, Tina M. Shattuck, who was her mother’s primary caregiver; her six grandchildren, Amanda Martin (Brian), Pamela Farris, Frankie Shattuck III, Hannah Shattuck, McKenzie Shattuck and Aspen Shattuck; her four great grandchildren, Richard A. Martin, Tabatha M. Martin, Lillian M. Farris and Carter N. Farris; her three sisters, Dorothy L. Buchanan (Edward), Leona M. Schoffstall (Jack) and Virginia B. Shattuck (Jesse “Bud”); and several nieces and nephews.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Ernest J. Peters, Frank H. Peters, Fred Leroy Peters, Harold W. Peters and Billy E. Peters.

Services were held Monday April 16, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Pastor Dennis Leek officiated. Honoring family wishes, cremation was chosen.
