Betty Jane Chesshir

Betty Jane Chesshir, 75 of West Terre Haute, passed away at 3:50 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in her residence.  She was born in Crawfordsville, IN on August 27, 1945 to David McClain and Mary Counts McClain.

Betty worked as a CNA at Cannon Inn for several years and still has many good friends there. She loved to make crafts and go to yard sales. Betty was also a member of the West Terre Haute Young Men’s Club for several years.

Betty is survived by her husband Kelvin “Chico” Chesshir and six children; Debbie Dixon (Jim), Candy Burns, Rose Ramsey, Mike Abney (Jean), Jason Abney (Shelly), and Donna Stalker, as well as three step-sons; Glen Brock (Carrie), Brian Chesshir (Suzette), and Travis Chesshir (Melissa).  Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Cox, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Gilmore, and two sisters;  Joan Deck and Marylee Landgrave.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM, with her son, Pastor Jason Abney and Pastor Billy Joe Henry officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 at the funeral home.
