Betty Jean Crockett, 88 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 7:45 AM in Signature Healthcare. She was born in West Terre Haute on September 12,1932 to Clifton Harden and Marie Cheeks Harden.
Betty was a Title I Teachers Aide for the Vigo County School Corporation and had previously worked at Commercial Solvents. Prior to that, she helped her father in his grocery store, Harden’s Grocery. She graduated from Valley High School and was chosen as Queen of the High School her senior year. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Stars Chapter # 428 and served as Worthy Chaplain for many years. She enjoyed feeding the squirrels, birds, and her cats.
Betty is survived by her two children, Dave Crockett (wife Cheryl), and Cathy Stone, and four grandchildren; Nicole Page, Gretchen Wright (husband Wayne), Clifton Erwin, and Kyle Crockett (wife Jessica). Also surviving are eight great grandchildren; Brady Page, Skyler Page, Eli Wright, Mylee Erwin, Paislee Erwin, Kale Crockett, Anna Wright, and Kolby Crockett, as well as two sisters-in-law, Pat Harden and Helen Crockett, and a brother-in-law, Bert Crockett and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as the love of her life, her husband Donn R. Crockett on December 7, 1997, her brother Clifton Harden, two sisters, LaVeta Rose Harden and Bernice Johnston, two sisters-in-law, Jackie Harden and Marilyn Crockett, and two brothers-in-law; Dr. Wayne Crockett and David Johnston.
Order of Eastern Star services for Betty will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM, with funeral services to immediately follow, with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 12 Noon- 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
