Billie Sue Stepp, 91, of West Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus.
She was born November 22, 1930 in Twin Falls, Idaho to William C. Upman and Ella Deaver Upman.
Billie was the first female mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the West Terre Haute First United Methodist Church. Her faith and love for God was extremely important to her. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Xi Xi Sorority and previously worked for Youth for Understanding.
Billie was preceded by her parents; her husband, James W. Stepp, who passed away in 1990; her daughter, Cynthia Sue Myers; son-in-law, Tom McCarthy; and sisters, Katie Reel and Verna Foradori.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim McCarthy; son, Kevin Stepp (Wilma); brother, Tom Upman (Thelma); and son-in-law, Tye Myers. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Amanda (Chris), Jessica (Matt), Amy, Kyle (Carrie), J.L. (Meganne), Marcus, Catherine and Erin; her eight great grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Ernie”, Emma, Jack, Chloe, Audrey, Beau, Jillian, Joci and Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana; with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park; Pastor Ed Gladish will officiate.
