Billy Joe Shadow, 69, of West Terre Haute, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1953 in Terre Haute to James Shadow and Estella Prather Shadow.
He served on the THPD from 1985 until retiring in 2000. During that time, he served in the traffic division as a motorcycle officer, before becoming a juvenile detective. As a juvenile detective, he served as the Liaison Officer at Chauncey Rose Middle School and traveled to elementary schools throughout the county doing “Stranger Danger” and safety talks with elementary students. He served 4 years on the Vigo County School Board and was elected Board President, serving one year in that role.
He enjoyed vacationing and fishing at Bojo Resort in Minnesota with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished his time hunting and shooting with his oldest grandson, Jayce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl Shadow, Chester Shadow, and infant brother Timmy Shadow; his mother and father in-law, George and Mary Rose Hines; and two brothers-in-law, George Hines , Adam Hines.
Billy Joe is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Hines Shadow; his daughters, Ginger Noblitt (Jim), Melissa Graham (Mike), and Christine Shadow (Joel Modesitt); his siblings, Jim Shadow (Linda), Robert Shadow (Theresa), Cindy Keller (Jay); and brother-in-law, Billy Hines (Nancy). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jenna Noblitt, Jayce Noblitt, Jaxson Noblitt, Kennedy Graham, and Blakely Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held. Burial will be in Barnhart Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. The family welcomes memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Notes on condolence may be left at: www.fitzpatrickfunerals.com.
