Carl Walter Dickerson, Jr.

Carl Walter Dickerson, Jr., 70 of West Terre Haute, passed away in his residence on Saturday, May 12, 2018.  He was born in Terre Haute on April 7, 1948 to Carl Walter Dickerson, Sr. and Phyllis Marie DeMougin Dickerson.

Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and his memberships include the West Terre Haute VFW Post # 6574, West Terre Haute American Legion Post # 501, Voiture 40/8, Marine Corps League, West Terre Haute Young Mens Club, and the Terre Haute Eagles Lodge.  Carl had previously worked at both J.I. Case and Ivy Hill Printing.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Mary VanVactor (husband Doug), and son Carl Dickerson III, as well as his mother, Phyllis Dickerson.  Also surviving are his grandchildren;  Seth Thornton, Britney Dickerson, Aubrey Dickerson, Keifer Dickerson, Hailey VanVactor, Devin VanVactor, and Colton VanVactor, and also by several great grandchildren.  Other survivors include three step-sisters;  Cheryl Eitner (husband Jim), Patricia Dickerson, and Susan Kreishner (husband Ken).  He was preceded in death by his father as well as his wife Patty Goodwin Dickerson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St. West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 3:00 PM.  Military Rites will be provided by the Vigo County Veteran’s Honor Guard.  Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow the service.
