Charity M. Evinger, 93, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023. Born on June 30, 1929 in Terre Haute, IN she was the daughter of Wayne and Wilma (Richardson) Strole.
Charity worked at CBS for many years and later retired from Donnelley Directory. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in West Terre Haute. Family was very important to her and she loved visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandsons. Charity was one of thirteen children in a large farm family. She was very close to her siblings, especially her sisters and sister-in-law, throughout her life.
She is survived by sons Rick (Gale) Evinger of Fort Wayne, IN; Terry (Flo) Evinger of Sanford, IN; granddaughter Rhonda (Mike) Bauermeister; grandson Justin (Nicole) Evinger; and great-grandsons Zach and Cole Bauermeister.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Harold C. Evinger, her second husband of 5 years, Pete Kehoe, daughter Tammy Evinger, four sisters and eight brothers, and special sister-in-law, Hazel (Evinger) Holdaway.
Charity lived at Sycamore Manor for the past 11 years. The residents and staff were more than just friends, they were family to her.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 6:00 PM, with Pastor Kathy Roush officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 60076 Hwy. 150, West Terre Haute, The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
