Charles L. Elkins, 78 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on December 25, 1940 to Charles F. Elkins and Mary Marie McConnell Elkins.
Charles was a pipefitter and retired after thirty-two years of service with Vectren Gas, and after retiring from Vectren, he worked as a delivery driver for Rocky’s Flower Shop in West Terre Haute. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by five children; Charles L. Elkins (Vickie Lamb), Chris L. May (Rocky), Tony W. Elkins, Sr. (Kelly Lamb), Bill Elkins (Marybeth), and Jeffrey A. Elkins (Tammy). He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; CJ Elkins, Heather Elkins, Jeramy Elkins, Michael Elkins, Ashley Compton, Amanda Compton, Amber Compton, Joshua Elkins, Samantha Elkins, Tony Elkins, Jr., Harley Elkins, Ethan Elkins, Jacob Elkins, Issacc Elkins, Lexus Elkins, Shyanne Elkins, Bailee Elkins, Jaycee Elkins, Braxton Elkins, and Haley Ryker, as well as eighteen great grandchildren, plus two more on the way. Also surviving is his brother, Franklin Elkins (Sally), and sister, Wilma Sue Graves, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Ella Mae Jeffrey Elkins, who passed away on May 10, 2010; and his brother, Leonard Elkins.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Monday October 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Buddy White officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
