New Goshen

Charles Mack Wright, of New Goshen, passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on January 16, 1949, to Charles and Ella Wright, Mack lived a life marked by service, love for family, and a passion for the outdoors.

Mack graduated from West Vigo High School in 1967, and soon after, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He completed a full tour in Vietnam as part of the Special Forces CAG Unit, a testament to his bravery and dedication. Following his military service, Mack pursued a career as a coal miner for Streamline Mines and later as a specialty welder at HB Zachary, where he retired.

A proud member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Marine Corps League, Mack found great purpose in his commitment to his country and his community. His love for nature and animals was ever-present, as was his talent in the kitchen—he was known for being a fantastic cook and an avid hunter. Above all, Mack cherished his role as a father to his son, Jayson Wright, whom he shared with Nancy Garlit. His love for Jayson was the center of his world.

Mack is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ella Wright. He leaves behind his son, Jayson Wright, sister Ella Louise McDonald, niece Jayleen and nephew Ron Briggs, great-nieces Haley Aus, Ashley Monroe, and Emily Briggs, as well as many great-great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind close family friends, including Dave Massa, Shane Meehan, Matt Hoopingarner, George Quinn, Mike Morrison, and Jenny Cuffle.

A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends. In the meantime, the family invites all who knew Mack to share their condolences online at www.fitzpatrick-funeralhome.com.

Mack will be dearly missed by all who knew him—a man of unwavering love for his family and his country.
