Charlotte Kay (Jones) Brush

Charlotte Kay Brush, 77, of Brazil, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at home on August 6, 2020.

Charlotte was born on June 14, 1943, in Welch, West Virginia, the daughter of Dewey and Feril Jones.  She attended business school and upon completion, went to work for the West Virginia State Police. Later after moving to Indiana she worked for several years at ISU in Student Affairs.  Throughout the years she worked for 3 area attorneys, in the Trust Department at First Bank and Trust, and later at the courthouse in first the Treasurer's Office and later for Judge Joe Trout.

She was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 2 in Brazil for many years and made many lasting friendships.

She married Charles R "Bob" Brush on March 30, 1968, in Wytheville, VA.  Charlotte loved people and never met a stranger.  She knew so many from her years of working in the community and she spent countless hours calling and checking on folks.  She loved to talk and would open her personal phone book on Sunday mornings and call people she hadn't talked to in years.  Her classmates, family, and many, many friends, were on her mind always.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles "Bob" Brush, her parents Dewey and Feril Jones; grandson Lucas Holifield and granddaughter Lisa Holifield.

Charlotte is survived by her children: John Brush and wife Denise, Jacqueline Summers and husband Nathan, Angela Kowitz, Charles Robert Brush II, and wife Sherry, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A special thank you to several who have called Charlotte regularly since Bob's passing to check on her and let her know they were thinking of her.  She was liked and loved by so many.  She deserves a big send-off but due to the circumstances, a smaller one is warranted. A memorial service at Summit Lawn Cemetery, in Brazil, IN will be held Saturday

September 5, 2020, from 2-4. The service begins at 4:00.  For those that are able to come, we will be happy to see you.  For those that can not attend, the family understands perfectly.
