Clifford H. “Sonny” Allison, 77 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Paris, IL on September 26, 1947 to Hobart Reece Allison and Kathleen Mae Fields Allison.
Sonny was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War. His member ships include being a lifetime member of West Terre Haute American Legion Post # 501—where he was also Past Commander, life member of VFW Post # 3601, of Paris, IL, Masonic Lodge # 268 of Paris, IL, and Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute. He was known for his efforts in fundraising and event planning for children and Veteran Organizations and enjoyed playing poker and euchre with his buddies.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy Mundy Allison and two daughters, Terri Fields (Jack), and Brandy Ingham (Josh Shepard who was like a son), grandchildren; Collin Fields, Kyndall fields, Cole Lydick (Makayla), and Cody Ingham, as well as great grandchildren Wesley Fields and Lennie Lydick. He is also survived by a sister, Marla Walters (Ernie and nieces Alyson and Leslie), his cousin and best friend Gary Shepard, favorite cousin, Mike Fields, brothers-in-law; Larry Mundy, Jerry Mundy, and Mike Mundy (Viki), sisters-in-law, Marlene Beck and Nancy Mundy, and Aiden and Anthony Rubinacci who were like his grandchildren, adopted grandson Vy Nguyen, and close and dear friend of many years, Linn Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Michelle “Miki” Lydick, and son-in-law Barrysan Ingham.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 4:30 PM, with Gary Shepard presiding over services. Family and friends may visit and share stories on Monday from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM at the funeral home. The Vigo County Honor Guard will provide military honors for Sonny at 4:30 PM. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow services.
