Daniel Lee Gunder

Daniel Lee Gunder, 64, of Terre Haute, IN passed away surrounded by his loving wife of 38 years as well as his sons, on December 29th, 2024, after a battle with cancer.

He was born on August 27th, 1960, to Russell and Beatrice (Koogler) Gunder in Dayton, OH. Dan graduated from Washington High School in 1978, and from Vincennes University with degrees in aviation maintenance. Dan has had a fulfilling career as a professor teaching Aviation Maintenance at Vincennes University where he taught for 38 years. In Dan’s spare time he loved to work on airplanes, go camping, taking pictures, exercising, and he had a love for running. 

Dan is survived by his father Russ, his wife Mary Ann, whom he married on April 19th, 1986; his stepson Chad (Katie) King, sons Jeremy (Lexie) Gunder, and Joshua Gunder; he is also survived by his four granddaughters, Taylor (Chaise) Kohl; Katelyn King, Morgan King and Paislynn Moore, as well as great grandsons, Jonah, Elijah and Theo; He is also survived by several in-laws, Kathy (Gunder) Toschlog, Larry (Linda) Lewis, Paul (Teresa) Lewis, Danny (Dorothy) Morgan, Melinda (Tracy) Williamson, Terri (Jim) Acton, father-in-law Daniel Morgan, brother-in-law Terry Warren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice, his mother in law Clara Morgan, his brother Jim, his niece Sarah and his sister-in-law Emily Warren, as well as his grandparents.

Keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen with a celebration of life scheduled for Saturday, January 11th, 2025, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana, 47885 at 1:00 pm. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
