David Anthony Myers

David Anthony Myers, 80 of Tere Haute, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Linton, IN on May 23, 1944 to James C. Myers and Geraldine B. Kneeland Myers.

David was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Correctional Officer. His memberships include Life Member of VFW Post # 972, Riley American Legion Post # 328, Riley Masonic Lodge # 390 F & AM, and was a founding member of the Cory Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing golf and poker and was an avid softball and basketball player in his earlier years.

David is survived by his wife Deborah Reckerd Myers and three children; Jill Schopmeyer (Marlin), David Myers (Travella), and Darrin Myers (Trina), as well as two step-children, Kevin Mitchell and Jenny Mitchell (Kin). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jordynn Scott, Paiden Myers, Gavin Myers, Carter Myers, Lauryn Myers, Jaylynn Scott, and Reilly Myers, four step-grandchildren; Jacklin Kirby, Zacharie Mitchell, Tristan Mitchell, and Hadlee Mitchell, as well as two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings; Keri Myers, James Myers (Susie), Dori Myers, and Jodi Myers-Harmon (Rob), and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Geraldine Myers, and two sisters, Jeri Myers Taylor and Teri Myers Tucker.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Riley. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cory Volunteer Fire Department or the Terre Haute Humane Shelter, in David’s memory.
