Dennis L. “Denny” Parker, 70 of West Terre Haute, passed away at home with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was born in Clinton, IN on October 2, 1950 to John A. Parker and Pauline Parker.
Denny was a retired coal miner, and formerly worked at Zigler Coal Mine and Sunrise Coal, and he was a member of the Montezuma Fish and Game Club. He will be remembered for his two favorite quotes, “kids come first” and “you don’t ever give up on ‘em”.
Denny is survived by his wife Darlene Parker, and four sons; Bill Parker, Dennis Parker (Jenena), Bryan Parker (Robin), and Jason Parker, as well as step-daughters; Jennifer Parker (Steve), and Michelle Smith (Steve), and a daughter-in-law, Joni Hunter. Also surviving is his brother, Arlie Duane Parker, and sister-in-law, Sarah Parker. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Brittany Sampson (Kenny), Luke Parker (Allison), Nick Parker, Briley Parker, Bailey Parker, Shelby Morgan (Brandon), Austin Byrley, Jasmine Rogers (Kyle), Jacob Wesley, Justin Wesley, Jesse Parker, Katie Hay, Wesley Sorlie (Hailie), Nicole Smith (Kendall), Shai Parker, Taylor Parker, and Ariele Huey, twenty-three great grandchildren, as well as special friends, John Tryon (Deb), and Robert Gibbons (Sandy). He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Pauline Parker, his stepson, Bryan Wallace, and his brother, John R. Parker.
Denny was a loving father and dedicated family man who enjoyed fishing. Because of his deep love for his community, family and friends, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12 Noon, with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home and again on Saturday prior to services.
