Don S. Harmon, 96, of West Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
He was born March 31, 1926 in West Terre Haute to Dan Harmon and Zella Middleton Harmon.
Don served in the United States Army in World War II. He was a Staff Sargent/Gun Crewman, serving in the Aleutian Islands. After his military service, he was employed at Conrail. Don was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6574 in West Terre Haute. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary Barnett Harmon, whom he married on April 27, 1947; his daughter, Donna Rose Harmon; brothers, Floyd McClaskey, Norman Harmon, and Danny Harmon; and sisters, Luciel Siverly, Alfair Ramsey, and Doris Stinson.
Don is survived by his sons, Ron Harmon (Susan), Curt Harmon (Jo), and Jeff Harmon; and his grandchildren, Zane Harmon (Kristin), Chris Benton(Angie), Libby Call (Ryan), Brad Harmon (Kelli), Heather Stone, Shannon Baldwin (Dana), Lindley Bolner (Travis), and Kyle Harmon (Shyanne). He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Peyton, Hannah, Caleb, Zach, Grant, Evan, Ashley, Will, Amber, and Kendal.
In honor of Don’s wishes, cremation was chosen. All family and friends are welcome to attend graveside services that will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Bethesda Memorial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
