Dorothea Rose Marie "Dottie" Dunlap, 89, of Terre Haute passed away at 1:40 p.m. Thursday April 27, 2017 in the Life's Journey Senior Living Memory Care at Paris, IL. She retired as a Home Economics Teacher from the Vigo County School Corporation after many years of service having taught at West Vigo High School and Terre Haute South Vigo High School. She was born August 8, 1927 at Marshall, IL to Herman Imle and Eva Manhart Imle. She married Robert M. Dunlap on June 30, 1946 at Effingham, IL and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2006. While teaching she also assisted Bob with the operation of the family farm having properties in both Indiana and Illinois. They enjoyed traveling and were members of the People to People International. Their love for learning about people and their cultures, especially about their agricultural practices lead them on many tours to visit approximately fifty countries around the world. They made life long friendships with people they met on those travels. Bob and Dorothea spent the winter months at their home near Lake Chapala, Mexico for many years. She was a graduate of Indiana State University having earned her Masters Degree and she was a member of the Northside United Methodist Church. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Tom Rothrock of Terre Haute; two sons Joseph Mark Dunlap and his wife Dormilee of Paris, IL, and Robert Keith Dunlap of Greenwood, IN and his former wife Bambi of New Albany, IN; a grandson Caleb J. Tennis and his wife Annie of Columbus, IN; several step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren Isaac and Zoe Tennis; several step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Patty Gonzales and family of Mexico and Moe Hamdan of Canada whom was a foreign student from Lebanon whom they hosted; and all of her family and caretakers at Life's Journey Senior Living. She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Herman Imle and a sister Jane Ann Imle. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. (Indiana Time) Monday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Burns officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel Of Memories Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time Monday. The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Life's Journey Senior Living Memory Care with envelopes available in the funeral home.
