Dorothy L. (Peters) Buchanan

Dorothy L. Buchanan, 91 of West Terre Haute, passed away at 1:45 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Clinton Gardens.  She was born in West Terre Haute on September 10, 1927 to Fred Peters and Myrtle Wheatstein Peters.

Dorothy was a custodian at West Vigo High School for sixteen years.  She is survived by four children; Steve Schoffstall, Sr. (Candy), Betty Sollars ( Joe), Linda Tomes, and Danny Schoffstall; stepchildren, Ron Buchanan, Don Buchanan, Mary Jane Crabb, Betty Rose Shattuck and Hallie Fox. She is also survived by two sisters; Leona Schoffstall, and Virginia Shattuck, and her grandchildren; Joey Sollars (Geneva), Jaime Bratcher (Bill), Stephen Schoffstall, Jr. (Debbie), Diane Murphy, Brandon Shattuck ( Amber), Skylar Shattuck, and Chris Tomes (Amanda), as well as fifteen great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James R. Schoffstall and her 2nd husband, Edward Buchanan, two sons, Richard Buchanan and James Schoffstall, a daughter, Laura Shattuck; stepsons, Ernie Buchanan, Seth Buchanan, Ed Buchanan, and Terry Buchanan, as well as three brothers; Frank Peters, Leroy Peters, and Junior Peters, and a sister, Bessie Shattuck.

Private graveside services were held on Monday, May 6, 2019 with burial at Bethesda Memorial Park.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN.
