Edward L. Beasley, 83, of Terre Haute, and formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away in his home on April 21, 2019.
He was born August 11, 1935 in Farmersburg, Indiana to Herb Beasley and Ann Banks Beasley.
Ed graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1958 and earned his Master’s degree in 1963. Ed was an educator. He taught Advanced Math and Physics for 38 years, with 36 of those years at West Vigo High School. He also coached Cross Country and Golf. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, past President of the Rea Park Senior Men’s Golf League, Terre Haute Exchange Club (Treasurer), Union Hospital Volunteer, and volunteered as a tutor for many students for many years. The Bikes for Tikes Program was very important to him. Ed was an avid sports fan. He bowled on three leagues and bowled a 300 game at age 69 and at age 70.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Beverly Stitt Beasley, whom he married on July 19, 1958; his daughter, Jane Ann Dobihal and her husband, Mark; his brothers-in-law, James Stitt and his wife, Louise, and Ralph Stitt and his wife, Jan; his grandchildren, Nicholas Battani, and Ashley Moody and her husband, Jesse; his great grandson, Jonah Moody; and a special niece, Amy Zinn and her husband, Steve.
Services will be held Friday, April 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family welcomes donations in his memory to the Terre Haute Humane Society or VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Moore will officiate; burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
