Ennis Sandford “Jack” Whallon, Jr., 88 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born in Vigo County on November 28, 1933 to Ennis Sandford Whallon, Sr. and Eddie Moore Whallon.
Jack was a graduate of Fayette High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Japan and worked at Distributor Terminal for 37 years for Teamsters Local # 144. After retirement, Jack and Mary Ann volunteered at West Vigo Elementary performing their “Lovie the Puppet” routine and selling popsicles for Mrs. Medley’s kindergarten class and working in her classroom. He then later worked at Union Hospital driving the shuttle bus for many years.
Jack is survived by his wife Mary Ann Fischer Whallon, who he married July 23, 1956 and their three children; Mary Jo Porter (Terry), Mark Whallon (Julia), and John Whallon (Margaret). He is also survived by two brothers, Bill Whallon (Carol), and Ronnie Whallon (Diana), as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Kenneth Alkire officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
