Garry Lin Hudson, 76, of West Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on December 13, 2024 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1948 in Mattoon, Illinois to parents, Wendell and Pauline (Tinch) Hudson.
Garry graduated from Garfield High School in 1967, served in the United States Air Force, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 133 in Terre Haute and the Millwrights, Machine Movers & Erectors Local Union 1003 in Indianapolis.
A true free-spirit, Garry loved to laugh, enjoyed watching comedies, old black and white movies and listening to his favorite artists, like Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, and Crosby Stills, Nash and Young to name a few.
He also delighted in spending time with his family and friends.
His lifetime accomplishments included building his family log home and chartering a maritime expedition from Miami to Jamaica without any sailing experience to speak of. Garry loved the ocean.
Garry is survived by his partner-in-life of 53 years, Sharon Shake; children, Michelle Hudson-Corwin (Craig), Kirsten Hudson, Sarah Shake, Tami Nicholson, Stephen Shake; grandchildren, Blake Grose, Olivia Tharpe (Logan), Chloe Amsterdam, Keerstan Tolley (Devin), Isaiah Dooley, Kaleigh and Sadie All, Stanley and Zachary Shake, Joe, Tanner and Scotty Hamblen; and several great grandchildren. Garry was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Keegan Corwin and several cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana. Bob Macklin will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the Terre Haute Humane Society, Hospice of the Wabash Valley and/or Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Notes of condolence may be left at: www.fitzpatrickfuneral-home.com.
