Herman "Frank" Rice, Jr.

Herman “Frank” Rice, Jr.,74, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 in Union Hospital.

He was born January 22, 1945 in Terre Haute to Herman Rice, Sr. and Erna Arnold Rice.

Frank served in the United States Army. He was a store keeper at J.I. Case and retired from the Sisters of Providence. Frank was a member of the St. Mary’s Village Church. He was an avid motorcycle and gun enthusiast and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and his granddaughter, Carly Rice.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Rice; his son, Frank Rice (Bobbi); his daughter, Shannon Corbett (Troy); his sister, Julia Pounds (Mike); his grandchildren, Taylor Corbett, Blaine Corbett, Bryce Corbett and Coleman Rice; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Village Church, 3827 North Arms Place, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana 47876, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in New Vermillion Cemetery, with military honors performed by the Vigo County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Terre Haute Humane Society in Frank’s memory; envelopes will be available at the church. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana assisted with arrangements.
