James Alford "Sam" Orndorff

James Alford “Sam” Orndorff, 83 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in his residence. He was born in West Terre Haute on July 25, 1941to Ralph Orndorff and Ruth White Orndorff.

Sam loved to go on cruises, go to the casino, and enjoyed watching westerns. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed following the Pacers, I.U., I.S.U., and Larry Bird.

Sam is survived by his wife Cathy Watson Orndorff, who he married February 26, 1970 as well as three children; Jeffrey Orndorff (Karen), Jamie Eversole (Mark), and James “Brent” Orndorff (Brianna). He is also survived by his sister Elvira “Sis” Cooper, grandchildren; Robin Vojnovich, Mark Eversole, Zachary Orndorff, Zoe Orndorff, Elle Orndorff, Emma Orndorff, Judah Orndorff, and Ava Orndorff, and several great grandchildren, as well as a special nephew, Sean Regan. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Robin Lin Orndorff, and two brothers, Dwight Orndorff and Byron Orndorff.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen with burial of his ashes to occur at a later date in Bethesda Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Providence Food Pantry, in Sam’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
