James "Jim" Brent Dant

James "Jim" Brent Dant, 65, of West Terre Haute, IN formerly of Vincennes, passed away on January 21, 2023, at his residence. Jim was born in Linton, IN on February 25, 1957, and he is the son of James Francis and Dorothy Joan (Shake) Dant. He married Deana (Edgin) Bottoms on September 4, 2020.

Jim was of the Catholic Faith and attended St. John 's Catholic Church. He was a 1975 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and attended Vincennes University taking classes pertaining to construction. Jim worked for E.H. Montgomery Construction for over thirty years and was employed out of the Carpenter Millwright Union for several years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Harmony Society and loved being outdoors any chance he could. He was a tremendous woodworker and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Deana Dant of West Terre Haute, IN; his mother, Joan Dant of Vincennes; daughter, Kara Doyle and her husband Brian of Vincennes; son, Tyler Dant and his wife Maura of Alexandria, VA; step-sons, Ryan Bottoms and his wife Kristin of Evansville, IN, Riley Bottoms and his fiancé Kait Isler of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Maggie, Bridget, and Connor Doyle, James Dant, Adalynn Bottoms and Kade Bottoms; his sisters, Beth Meuser and her husband David of Brazil, IN, Brenda Cleveland of Cordova, TN, Jennifer Goodrich and her husband Mark of Vincennes; aunt Carolyn DeVine of Vincennes, uncle, Bernie Dant and his wife Ann Marie of Goodyear, AZ as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Francis Dant.

Friends may visit with Jim's family from 4-8 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN and on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday at St. John 's Catholic Church, 803 Main St., Vincennes, IN with Rev. Tony Ernst celebrating. Jim will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Dant family has requested memorial contributions be made to Wreaths Across America.
