Jerry Wayne Hankins, Sr., 72 of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He was born in Terre Haute on September 26, 1951 to Jackie Lee St. John and Barbara Ann Hankins.

Jerry was a senior electronics technician and had worked at Anaconda for many years as well as Eli Lilly and St. Mary of the Woods. He was an amateur radio operator for many years and became licensed in 1967, with his call letters being WA9UKB. He was a member of The King’s Harvest Foursquare Church and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, LeeAnn Newlin Hankins, and his son, Jerry Wayne Hankins, Jr. (Maryann), and his grandchildren; Jerry Wayne Hankins, III (Mavery), Austin Michael Hankins (Amber), Amber Sebastian, and Brandon David Hankins, as well as two great grandchildren, Vera and Lincoln. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his grandmother who raised him, Opal Fern Hankins.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, In on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM, with his long-time friend and Pastor, Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will follow in Hull Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
