Kathryn R. (Flaugher) Stevens

Kathryn R. (Flaugher) Stevens, 73, passed away February 3, 2022. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 30, 1948; daughter of the late Billy James and Rosemary Ann (Drullinger) Flaugher.

She was a 1966 graduate of Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Indiana. She moved to West Terre Haute in 1967 and later moved to Terre Haute in 2007.

Kathy was employed 25 years with the Vigo County School Corporation, retiring in 2010 from Ouabache Elementary School. After her retirement she continued to volunteer her time helping several teachers at Ouabache and Hoosier Prairie Elementary.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being involved in any activity that her children participated in growing up. She was an avid bowler and bowled on several leagues throughout the years. She had many special friends from work and created lifelong friendships through bowling and being a member of the Wabash Valley Red Hatters.

Survivors include her son, Ronald (Nancy) Stevens, Jr. of West Terre Haute, and daughter, Christine (Mark) Coleman of Terre Haute; three brothers, William J Flaugher of San Antonio, Texas, Dennis H (Diana) Flaugher of Lebanon, Indiana, David Mark (Diana) Flaugher of Spokane, Washington; one sister, Lorraine E (Jim) Ellison of Whiteland, Indiana; three grandchildren, Andrew (Christina) Darrow, Kyle (Victoria) Stevens and Addison R Coleman. Several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by one brother, Charles L Flaugher.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Meadows Manor East (Majestic Care of Deming Park), her doctors (Dr. Schmitz and Dr. Chakrabarti) and their staff for the wonderful care and compassion they showed during her short battle with cancer.

In keeping with her wishes cremation has been chosen. The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
