Kenneth R. Gard

Kenneth R. Gard, 84 of Clermont, Florida and formerly of New Goshen, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 in his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born in Chicago, IL on April 4, 1939 to Ernest Drewry Gard and Nellie Miller Gard.

Kenneth was a retired store manager with Kroger with 38 years of service and received Manager of the Year recognition.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and attended games at 3 different home ballparks in St. Louis as well as attending Cardinals spring training games in Florida for 17 straight years, and loved to play golf.  He was a devoted family man with many wonderful memories of camping with his family and extended family members.  He and his wife Kaye spent 28 years at O.R.O. Retirement Park in Clermont, FL.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Kaye Dugger Gard who he married January 28, 1962 and three children; Sherry Seckinger (Bill), Kimberly Miller (Marvin), and Tony Gard (Nancy), his grandchildren; Nicole Keith, Lyndsay Seckinger, Ashley Hudson, Justin Miller, Allison Kump, Briana McCalister, and Crystal Gard.  Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren; Emily Morris, Lyndon Seckinger, Katin Keith, Kayelynn Hudson, Noah Hudson, Layla Hudson, Gabe Hudson, Carter Swanson, Kennedy Miller, Faye Miller, and Liam Kump, his brother Gayle Gard, sister-in-law Carolyn Gard, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Crystal S. Gard, and three brothers, Gerald Gard, Don Gard, and Leslie “Babe” Gard.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen with a Celebration of Life dinner to be held at a later date.  The family would like to thank Promedica Hospice of Terre Haute and VITA Hospice of Florida for the wonderful care provided to Kenneth.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 S.E. 1st Street, Suite 88, Miami, FL 33131 or the Outdoor Resorts of Orlando, 9000 US Highway 192, # 1000, Clermont, FL 34714. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
