Kristen Rae Selvia-Butler

Kristen Rae Selvia-Butler, 47, of West Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born in Terre Haute on July 23, 1974 to Bill Selvia and Diana (Halstead) Selvia.

Kristen was a 1992 graduate of West Vigo High School and a graduate of Indiana State University in 1996.  She later earned her master’s in criminology and psychology.  Kristen served as a re-entry coordinator for the Rockville Correctional Facility for over 20 years.  She enjoyed crafting, particularly scrapbooking.

Kristen is survived by her husband Steven Butler, whom she married September 1, 2007.  Also surviving are her parents, Bill and Diana Selvia. She is also survived by her step-children; Jordan Butler, Hannah Armstrong (Austin), Avery Butler, and Alyssa Butler, grandchildren; Kinsley Butler, Raelynn Butler, Ryker Butler, and Beau Armstrong, plus 2 more on the way.  She is also survived by her sister, Lauri Fritz (Chris), her brother, Greg Selvia (Trudy), and her niece and nephews; Gabrielle Selvia, Brand Selvia, Creed Fritz, and Christopher Fritz, as well as her best friend, Sherry Hill.  She was preceded in death by grandparents Walter and Marie Halstead, and Luther and Mary Selvia, as well as a niece, Rae-Ann Fritz.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with Chaplain Jeff Deakins officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Monday, October 11, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
