Leona May Maples, 83 of West Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2018 at 11:30 PM. She was born in Terre Haute on November 29, 1935 to William Henry White, Jr. and Mary Oricks White.
Leona was a member of Faith and Truth Non-Denominational Church in West Terre Haute. She was very involved as a volunteer for many years at the Terre Haute YMCA in the Foster Grandparent Program.
Leona is survived by four daughters; Patsy Jane Morris (husband Wayne) of Lafayette, IN, Nancy Switzer, Denise Krantz, all of West Terre Haute; and Paula Price (husband Gilbert),of St. Bernice. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Terry Switzer, Jr. (wife Stephanie), Christopher Layton (wife Allison), Amber Vazquez (husband Leyber), Lace Krantz, and Emma Price, and 3 step-grandchildren; Angela Eaton, Gregg Morris, and Craig Morris, as well as eight great grandchildren. She also leaves behind one brother, Tom White, Jr. and four sisters; Flo Dickerson, Catherine Gard, Mary Walden, and Terrie Cooper, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Emery Maples on August 9, 2001, a daughter, Jacqueline Sue Roberts, as well as three great grandchildren; Michael Weir, Jack Lee Weir, and Haley Switzer.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Friday, January 4, 2018 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Shawn Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
