Loren D. Fifer passed away on September 6, 2024, in Terre Haute, IN. Loren was born in Newton, Iowa on February 26, 1933. He was the fourth of nine children born to William and Gladys (Brayton). Loren was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years, Blanche (Smith) and his son Bruce. Loren is survived by his daughter Brenda (Ken), son Larry (Debbie), seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Loren has two brothers and one sister still living along with many nieces and nephews. He was nicknamed "Red” by many throughout his life due to the color of his hair.
Loren was an Air Force Veteran and proudly served his country during the Korean War. When he returned from the war he married Blanche. Following his honorable discharge, Loren worked in a variety of sales positions before going to work for the City of Waukesha and becoming the city electrician.
Loren had many interests outside of work including hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, and woodworking. He enjoyed tending to his yard and flower gardens and walking his beloved dog Bear. In his final years at Westminster Village Nursing Home Loren was active in the numerous social activities offered to residents. He also enjoyed sitting outside by the pond where he fed the ducks.
Visitation will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, 9/14/24 from 11 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00.
