Lorraine Catherine Hoopingarner

Lorraine Catherine Hoopingarner, 72 of New Goshen, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in her residence. She was born in Terre Haute on September 6, 1952 to Robert E. Lawson and Clara Eileen Hellman Lawson.

Lorraine was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise Church of New Goshen. She enjoyed scrapbooking, but most importantly loved her grandchildren and attending their many activities. She was extremely proud of her two grandsons Logan and Andy for their military service to our country.

Lorraine is survived by her husband Gary V. Hoopingarner whom she married May 29, 1970. She and Gary lived in Germany for 18 months when they were first married while he was in the military. She is also survived by three children; Amanda Catherine Guinn (Robert), Gary Andrew Hoopingarner (Traci), and Denise Joy Thornberry (Christopher), and nine grandchildren; Logan Guinn (fiancé Rain Magrill), Nicholas Guinn, Grace Steen (Adam), Andy Hoopingarner, Ava Hoopingarner (fiancé Lucas Hogue), Grayson Hoopingarner, Nolan Crist, Gavin Thornberry, and Adeline Lorraine Thornberry. She is also survived by her brother Mark Lawson (Carol), and nieces and nephews; Shanna, Kirsten, Ashton, Grant, and Makayla. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with Brother John Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Vermilion Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
