Marilyn Sue (Vandeventer) Canada

Marilyn Sue Canada, 82 of West Terre Haute passed away on July 14, 2019.  She was a beloved wife and mother.   Sue was born on June 5, 1937 to Edgar and Helen Allen Vandeventer. She graduated from Valley High School in 1955 and married her husband of 61 years, Robert L. Canada on April 5, 1958 at Bethany Church. Bob and Sue renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary at Bethesda UMC.  Sue was proceeded in death by her parents, brother George Vandeventer (sister-in-law Gloria), sisters Elizabeth Hendricks (brother-in-law Homer), and Lou Ellen Pea (brother-in-law Larry), and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Daisy Canada.

Sue is survived by her spouse Robert L. Canada, son Robert Canada II, daughter Amanda Solesky and husband Mark, grandsons Kyle and Aaron Solesky, and grand-dog Callie. Sue is also survived by nieces Cathy VanVactor (Charles), LaDonna Rowings (Ben), Paula Oldag (Tom), Nancy Meadows (Bart), and nephews George Vandeventer (Mary), Jack Canada II “Butch”, and Jeff Pea. She is also survived by several great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sue worked as the bakery and deli manager at the IGA in West Terre Haute for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, going to yard sales and flea markets, watching westerns, collecting angels, spending time with family, and spoiling her grandsons. Sue leaves a legacy of love and dedication to family that will never die.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Ed Gladish officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethesda Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Providence Food Pantry of West Terre Haute or send flowers to someone you love to honor Sue.
