Marjorie Lee "Marge" (Mays) Fields

Marjorie Lee “Marge” (Mays) Fields, 94 of West Terre Haute died peacefully at home on May 4, 2022.

Marge was born January 22, 1928, in West Terre Haute to the late Ivan Mays and Grace (Cox) Mays.  She graduated from Concannon High School in 1945 and from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in 1949.  She married William (Bill) Fields in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 2010.  She has one daughter Jolee (Mike), 2 grandchildren Marissa (Chris) and Matthew (Jane), 2 great grandchildren Michael, Olivia, and Caroline and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois and Vivian.

Marge loved being a nurse!  She worked for Dr. Stoelting for 30 years.  She loved her patients and enjoyed keeping up with them and their families.  After Dr. Stoelting retired she took over Meadows Home Health and worked there until she was 75.

Marge and Bill loved to travel and went to many countries and states.  Marge continued to travel with Turner and enjoyed the trips and the friends she made.  They were members of the Model A club and enjoyed driving their cars with the group.  She was active in the Historical Society and Altrusa.  One of her favorite things was to put on luncheons for the St. Anthony’s Alumni group.  Choosing a theme and decorations were her specialty.  She was also a member of the Nightingale Club.

Marge was a very active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in West Terre Haute.

The family is extremely grateful to mom’s caregivers, especially Judy, Melissa, Britteny and Jessica.

Episcopal Burial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Saint Stephens Episcopal Church, 215 N. 7th St., Terre Haute, IN at 11:00 AM, with Father Bill Wieland officiating.  Entombment will be in Roselawn Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be held in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
