Mary Ruth Thralls was called to our Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born in St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana, on March 31st, 1930 . She was the 8th of 11 children to Thomas George and Mary Ellen Maher. A graduate of Concannon High School, Over the years, Ruth went on to enjoy a career working for companies such as Western Union, Quaker Maid, Columbia Records and the Vigo County Nursing Home. Ruth was a devoted Roman Catholic and member of St. Mary’s Village Church. She had a lifelong relationship with the Sisters of Providence and had volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and the Sandford Firehouse Ladies Auxiliary.
Ruth was proceeded in Death by her husband, Alfred F. Thralls Jr., her parent’s, and her siblings: George, Aug, John, Ed, Marie, Joe, James, Simon, Roger and Richard. She is survived by five sons and three daughters: Fred Thralls and wife Kim, Greg Thralls and wife Mary Lu, Doug Thralls, Scott Thralls and wife Lana, Miram Vermillion and husband Greg, Dan Thralls and wife Cheryl, Jeanette Thralls, Jeanine Whitford and husband Charles. Also surviving were 15 grandchildren: Zachary Thralls, Isaiah Thralls (Amanda), Rachel Lozier (Chris), Jessica Cripe (Seth), Jena Robertson (Easton), Austin Thralls, Jordan Thralls (Ila), Logan Thralls, Ashley Sereno (Casey), Michael Vermillion, Elyssa Bettenbrock (Logan), Elizabeth Favre (Kyle), Chance Favre, Luke Whitford and Kaitlin Whitford. Also 17 great-grandchildren: Bronson Thralls, Brock Thralls, Dallas Thralls, Dexter Lozier, Jaxson Lozier, Bruce Lozier, Max Lozier, Vivian Sereno, Laurel Sereno, Waylon Robertson, Tucker Robertson, Hank Robertson, Charlotte Cripe, Sawyer Cripe, Ryker Gordon, Remi Gordon, and Alina Bettenbrock.
Visitation will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, with a rosary service at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Village Church on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with Father Darvin Winters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, in her memory.
