Monty R. Atterson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished father, Monty R. Atterson on July 28th 2024 in West Terre Haute. Monty R. Atterson was born on February 25th 1958 in West Terre Haute. 

He was a Musician and enjoyed playing bass guitar alongside his brother Woody in bands such as Zapple, Frost Band, and ultimately Stiffy Green. He spent his days with his beloved dog Maggie who he lovingly called Mag Pie. 

He is survived by Son; Derek Atterson, Daughter; Casey Atterson, Step-Daughter;Andie Whitsit, Brother; Steve Atterson, Sister; Sarah (Atterson)Winn, Mother of his children; Juliann Atterson, and The Newburns who were always like family. 

His greatest joy was being a papa to his Grandchildren; Chase, Eden, Gianna, Demiyah, Ledivai, Jude, Noah and one new granddaughter on the way. 

He was preceded in death by Mother; Selma McClain Atterson, Father; Harold Atterson Sr, Brother; Harold “Woody” Atterson Jr.

He was always able to bring smiles to those around him with his joking demeanor. He will be sorely missed by family, friends, and those who admired his musical talent. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6th 2024 from 1-3pm with service at 3pm at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home 220 N 3rd St. West Terre Haute, IN 47885
