Norma Jean (Oricks) Gabbard

Norma Jean Gabbard, 86 of Terre Haute, passed away at 7:10 AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Regional Hospital.  She was born in Terre Haute on September 16, 1933 to William Oricks and Rose Ann Foley Oricks.

Norma was a member of Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, she loved her Church family and enjoyed reading her Bible every day.

Norma is survived by her two daughters; Rose Garner (John), and Debbie Adamson (Preston Reedy).  Also surviving are her grandchildren; Jean Case (Bryan), Renee Chatman (Jason), Chris Garner, Heather D’Auria (Michael), Rob Adamson (Emily), and Audrey Adamson Rice (Jimmy), as well as twelve great grandchildren; Dakota Case, Dalton Case, Cheyanne Case, Dylan Case, Shai Garner (Chelsie), Shamar Garner, Isaiah D’Auria, Fedor D’Auria, Hazel Jane Adamson, Calvin Adamson, James Rice, and Charlie Rice. In addition, she leaves behind four great great grandchildren; Peyton and Paisley Garner, and Xavier and Xander Garner, her brother, William Oricks, and several nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Chester B. “Chet” Gabbard on June 18, 2017, her son-in-law Chuck Adamson, a very special nephew, Chuck Oricks, several sisters, and her faithful K9 companion Lucy Lou.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Andy Fishback officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethesda Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to either Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, 3201 McKeen St., Terre Haute, In 47803 or the Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 S. Fruitridge Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47803, in her memory.
