Norman Eugene Hoopingarner, 95 of West Terre Haute, passed away in his son’s residence on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was born in West Terre Haute on August 8, 1926 to Joseph Edward Dewey Hoopingarner and Pearl Wheatstrine Hoopingarner.
Norman was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. His memberships include Trinity Church in New Goshen, and was a life member of Krietenstein American Legion Post # 104, life member of VFW Post # 972 in Terre Haute, and was a member of Wayne Newton American Legion Post # 346.
Norman is survived by his son Pearl E. Hoopingarner (wife Connie), and two daughters, Donna R. Price (husband Ralph), and Janet S. Halter (husband Darrel). Also surviving are six grandchildren; Jason Hoopingarner, Matthew Hoopingarner, Michael Laney, Amy Reynolds, Bobbi Osborne, and Derick McDonald, as well as several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Other survivors include his siblings; Betty June Heyen, Ella Louise, Shirley, Sharon, Terry Lee, Sally Jo, Ernest Lee, and Billy Ray, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Rose Edington Hoopingarner, his 2nd wife, Anna Bell Edington Hoopingarner, brothers; Everett, Ernie, Carl, Walt and George, and a sister, Esther.
Funeral services will be held in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 12 Noon, with Pastor Gary Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post # 972. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 10 AM until service time in the funeral home.
