Paul E. Elkins, Jr.

Paul E. Elkins, Jr., 80 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Union Hospital. He was born in Vigo County on January 18, 1944, to Paul E. Elkins, Sr. and Bertha Harvey Elkins.

Paul was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam and retired as a supervisor with CINergy (formerly PSI, and currently Duke Energy). He was a volunteer fireman with the New Goshen Fire Department for 50 years as well as a leader of the New Goshen Lions Club and enjoyed RV camping all around the Midwest with his club, the Far-Go Weekenders Camp Club. 

He was involved in numerous activities in the community of New Goshen, far too many to list. He was a father, friend or grandfather to anyone who met him. He loved Lions Club breakfasts, Volunteering at ISU Baseball and Basketball games, reading western novels, Antique Tractor Shows, NASCAR Races, RFDTV and especially his grandchildren, with whom he spent significant time with as they were growing up. 

Paul is survived by two sons, Scot Elkins (Lauren) and Kevin Elkins (Sara), as well as seven grandchildren; Emily Elkins, Carter Elkins, Lily Elkins, Eli Elkins, Lorelei Elkins, Maxwell Elkins, and Jack Elkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife Virginia “Jenny” (Hill) Elkins who preceded him in death on February 13, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with Joe Lumbrix officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the New Goshen Lions Club, 9640 N. Range Line Place, West Terre Haute, IN 47885, in Paul’s memory.
