Peggy M. (Cox) Hammond

Peggy Marie Hammond, formerly Cox, of West Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 1:10 p.m.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Walter Hammond, Jr.; two daughters, Peggy Hammond Escobedo, married to Brandon Harris; and Jamie Hammond, wife of Mykel Withrow; six grandchildren, Devon Porter, Christian Hammond, Hedes Harris, Leviathan Harris, Andrew Withrow, and Elysian Harris. She is also survived by three sisters, Susie Cates, Carla Switzer and Dolly Cox, wife of Franklin Stevens, Jr.; four brothers, James Cox, husband to Sharon, Mike Cox, husband to Debra Johnson, Tony Cox, Sr., and Louis Cox, husband to Ann, and their two sons; a brother-in-law, James Johnson; and several nieces and nephews, including Dustin Flowers, his soon to be wife, Racheal Blitz; Dustin’s three sons, Adyn, Logan and Corbin Flowers, Franklin Stevens III, his wife, Jakki, and their son, Preston, Mikey Stevens; a brother-in-law, David Hammond, his wife Barb, and their children and grandchildren, and many more.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Adousha Cox; her sister, Joanie Cox Johnson; two brothers, Homer Cox and Rick Cox; nephews, Jimmy Johnson and Michael Cox, her in-laws, Walter “Salt” and Mertle Hammond; sister-in-law, Becky Cox, and a brother-in-law, Edd Cates.

Peggy was an avid gardener. She loved her plants and animals. She was the best daughter, mother, sister, wife, aunt and friend anyone could ask for. She was truly an angel amongst us.

Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana, with visitation from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
