Phillip Herrington, aged 59, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

He was born on April 6, 1963 to James Benjamin Herrington and Beverly Joan (Poff) Herrington. His childhood was filled with love, jokes, sports, and playing with all the neighborhood kids and cousins. He graduated from West Vigo High School in 1981 and always had pride in West Vigo as his alma mater, amusingly referring to himself as a “river rat”.

Although Phillip never had children of his own, he cherished his nieces and nephews, always giving them gifts and teaching them corny jokes. He worked his whole life for various grocery stores, but the work he valued most was serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church attending regularly at Bible study and Sunday morning worship, and participated in the Praise Team. His life mission was to spread the love of God through laughter and love. Much like his father, Jim, he never knew a stranger.

He is survived by his mother, Beverly Joan (Poff) Herrington; his brothers, James Curtis Herrington, Brian Herrington (Teresa), and Doug Herrington (Kimberly); his sister, Stephanie Bartlett (Nathan); his nieces and nephews, Lori Weed (Derek), Joshua Herrington (Stephanie), Justin Bartlett (Kelsey), Ian Bartlett (Macaira), Haley Bartlett, Emily Herrington, James Malachi Herrington (Zion), Hannah Herrington; and his great nieces and nephews, Ezra, Juliette, Calvin, and Maren Weed, and Evelyn Herrington; his aunts, Esther Thompson, Shirley Herrington, Thelma Upman (Thomas), and Charlene Grafe; his uncle, Richard Poff; many loved cousins and family friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Herrington.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Robin Blansett officiating.  Burial will follow in Dunlap Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
