Mr. Richard “Dick” Cline, Age 87 of, Grand Ledge, MI (formally of Terre Haute, IN) passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at Stoneridge Assisted Living in Bellevue, MI.

Dick was born in Terre Haute, IN on February 17, 1937, the son of Dorothy and Charles Cline.

Dick was raised in the Terra Haute area and attended local schools. After completing his education, he joined the United States Air Force and served in both the Alaska Territory and in Europe in crash rescue and firefighting operations.

Dick was married previously to Patsy Dye, and they had one daughter, Jamie. After completing his military service, Dick ultimately met Marilyn (Williams). The couple was married in 1967 and were married for 49 years. They had one son, Richard Eric, and made their home in Terre Haute. Dick and Marilyn enjoyed traveling across the United States and visiting multiple historic battlegrounds throughout the Eastern and Southern United States.

In the 1970’s, Dick began working at Terre Haute Gas Company. During his 30+ year tenure with the company, Dick served in many different capacities, eventually retiring as a District Manager in the early 2000’s.

Upon retirement, Dick and Marilyn relocated to Michigan to be closer to family. During his spare time, Dick enjoyed reading and studying U.S. military history, especially the Civil War era. He also enjoyed watching sports and became an avid hockey fan. His sports interest where not limited to hockey, he also enjoyed auto racing, baseball and football.

Dick is survived by his children Eric (Denise) Cline of Grand Ledge, MI, Jamie (John) Boucher of Dennison, IL, his sister Shirley Strole of Terre Haute, IN, 4 grandchildren (Ethan Cline, Jared Cline, Kimberly Roach and Heather (Paul) Williams), 3 great grandchildren (Austin Roach, Kayla Lewis, and Eryan Majors), 2 great-great grandchildren (Daiah Shroyer and Oaklynn Lewis) and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2016, his parents, his brother Charles “Jake” Cline, sister-in-law Thelma Cline and brother-in-law Paul Strole.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Fitzpatrick Funeral Home located at 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, IN 47885. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Fitzpatrick Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
