Richard "Dick" McCalister

Richard “Dick” McCalister, 72 of West Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 1:39 PM at Union Hospital.  He was born in Dresser on April 21, 1947 to Robert McCalister and Virginia "Tootie" Favre McCalister.

As owner, Dick was the 2nd of four generations in the family business, McCalister and Sons, and was a highly respected businessman in the West Terre Haute Community.  His strong work ethic was passed down to his children and grandchildren, and he was passionate about his family. He loved his community and West Vigo Football, and had served as a volunteer youth football coach for many years in West Terre Haute, and attended World Gospel Church of Terre Haute.

Dick is survived by his wife Clara Akers McCalister, whom he married December 3, 1966.  Together, they had four children; Tammy Alkire (husband Mike) and their children; Christopher, Natalie, and Zachary Alkire, Richard Alan McCalister (wife Lisa) and daughter Alana McCalister, Marty McCalister (wife Melissa) and their children; Marissa, Jarret, Kyle, and Gabe McCalister, and Cindy Billingsley and her daughter Isabella Billingsley.  Also surviving are his siblings; John McCalister (wife Sue), Steve McCalister (wife Barb), Billie Rose McDonald (Jim Archer), Vickie Jane McCalister, and Nancy Allsup (husband Paul),many beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as brothers Jim McCalister (his wife Vickie McCalister-Spurr survives) Robert McCalister and his wife Ike McCalister, and a sister, Norma Jean Mundy and her husband Larry Mundy.

Funeral services for Dick will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Alfy Austin and Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethesda Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
