Robert Alan Downing

Robert Alan Downing, 62 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Union Hospital.  He was born in West Terre Haute, IN on December 2, 1958 to Robert Lee Downing and Naomi Marshall Downing.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force as well as the Indiana Air National Guard with 31 years of service between them.  He served several overseas tours while defending our freedoms.  He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed woodworking and country music, but most of all, he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his daughter Crystal Downing (Ronald), his former spouse Malynda Downing, and grandchildren; Kaitlynn Downing (Nashan), Harley Dycus (wife Mikaela), and Justice Dycus.  He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren, Kialin Dycus and Kiavah Dycus, as well as bonus grandchildren; Tianna Sluder, Tenneille Lucas, and   Novah G.  He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Dusty Downing.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 11:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
