Robert Michael Phillips

Robert Michael Phillips, 66, of West Terre Haute left this world after a brief battle with cancer, to be with his family who have already passed Monday, May 7, 2018.

Mike was born June 9, 1951 in West Terre Haute to John Robert Phillips and Helen Rose Anderson Phillips.

Mike proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #6574 in West Terre Haute and the Indiana Blacksmith Association. Mike was employed as an operator at Novelis. He formerly worked in the Zeigler Coal Mine and International Paper prior to its closing. Mike enjoyed flint knapping, gardening, fishing and mushroom hunting. He loved working in his garage on his custom motorcycle, and especially loved being a father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy McQueary Phillips; his son, Josh Phillips and his wife, Kelly and their children, Drew and Nate; and his son, Noah Phillips; his brother, Steve Phillips; his sister, Elana Auten; and several aunts, nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Brian Phillips.

In honor of Mike’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Please join us in celebrating Mike on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute. Jason Harris will officiate a service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome to share a thought or a story. “ All that wander are not lost”. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to The United Way of the Wabash Valley. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
