Roland Herbert Wardle, 88, of West Terre Haute, passed away in his residence on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He was born in New Goshen on September 11, 1933 to Roland Claude Wardle and Jessie Marie Selvia Wardle.
Herb was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ and served for many years as Trustee, and enjoyed overseeing several restoration projects at the church. He was a truck driver at Lovelace Trucking for 25 years and was co-owner of the Dairy Castle in West Terre Haute before going on to owning and managing A&B Windows/Kasameyer Glass. He was a 50 year member of the West Terre Haute Masonic Lodge # 687 F & AM.
Herb is survived by three children; Denise Wardle Funk, Cheri Lee Woolley (husband Bob), and Roland Herbert Barr. He is also survived by his brother Claude Wardle, Jr., and sister, Mary Gilbert, as well as seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Roma Ruth Wardle, and a brother, Ralph Wardle.
Funeral services will be held at Bethany United Church of Christ, 201 W. Miller Ave., West Terre Haute, IN on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Steve Moore and Pastor Adin Rodgers officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the church. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bethany United Church of Christ, in his memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
