Sue Ann Greggs, of Terre Haute, passed away on September 28th, 2024 at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. Sue was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on February 8th, 1943, to Andy Johnston and Dorthy Sevier Johnston.
Sue was a loyal attendee of First Baptist Church of North Terre Haute, where she also volunteered many hours and years of her time in their food pantry giving back to others in need. Later in life, she also attended Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church.From a young age she knew what her passion was, which was always helping others. This path lead her to become a Registered Nurse later on in life. She worked rigoursly in school to obtain her degrees of which are from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing; and continued her education at Indiana Wesleyan University, earning her Bachelor of Science graduating with honors Magua Cum Laude. Upon graduation, she worked diligently at prestigious hospitals such as; Barnes Hospital of St. Louis, Missouri and St. John’s Mercy Medical Center of Creve Coeuer in St. Louis, Missouri. After retiring from Union Hospital of Terre Haute, Indiana she spent her free-time time with her family, baking pies for many to enjoy, and hand sewing beautiful quilts. If you have ever received any of her wonderful quilts, you know it was made with pure love and joy. The family would like to give special thanks to the Hospice of Wabash Valley as well as the The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care for their exceptional patient and family services.
Sue is survived by her children Derek Bryan (Dana) and Michelle “Shelley” Pickett (Darrell); Step-children Christy Pickens (Kayle), Doris White (Kelly), Jerry Scott Greggs; Grandchildren Joshua Bryan (Irene), Rachel Willan (Gary), Lauren Patterson (Dane), Tailor Carey (Adam), Nicole Pickett (Kyle), Samantha Bryan. Great-Grandchildren Ruby Willan, Lillian Carey, Lennon Carroll, and baby Patterson on the way. As well many nephews and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years David Lee Greggs; Brother George Alsop; Sisters Eileen Downy and Mary Jukes; great-grandchildren Sylus Eder and Scarlett Willan.
Memorial Services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday October 5th, 2024 , at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bob Roush officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated.In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
