Ted Lewis Elkins, 86, of West Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away July 31, 2019 at 3:15 p.m.
He was born to Albert Elkins and Myrtle Kinnaman Elkins on December 31, 1932 in Dresser, Indiana.
Ted was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He was a Grand Champion Master Showman of Poultry. Ted traveled all over the United States showing chickens.
He retired from the International Laborers Union #204 in Terre Haute
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stephen Elkins and one daughter, Laura Elkins.
He is survived by three sons; Teddy Lee Elkins (Jean), Samuel Elkins, Richard Elkins ( Mary); Five daughters, Thelma Smith ( Kenny), Donna Boatman, Lila Elkins (Jury), Billie Elkins, Kay Roberts (Pete), as well as a special caretaker and granddaughter, Amy McCalister. Also surviving is his companion, Carolyn Orr, 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, as well as several great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 12 Noon, with Todd Umphries officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2019 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
