V. Carole (Pershing) Like

V. Carole Like, 76, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 in Meadows Manor North.

She was born August 7, 1941 in Worthington, Indiana to Jacob Pershing and Zelma Black Pershing.

Carole was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church; where she worked as the Office Manager for many years. She grew up in West Terre Haute and attended Marion Heights Community Church. Carole and Art were avid travelers. They traveled the world over, occasionally bringing a grandson or two with them. Upon retiring, they spent their last few winters in St. Cloud, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Arthur Like, who passed away October 17, 2016; and siblings, Ronnie Pershing, Betty Lou Vester and Buddy Pershing.

Carole is survived by her five children; Kevin Deal and his wife, Jennifer, Laurie Gasser and her husband, Johnathan, Larry Deal, Russell Deal and his wife, Christi, and Robert Deal and his wife, Kim; her brothers, Jim Pershing, Mike Pershing, Chuck Pershing and Randy Pershing; her sister, Marie Monnett and her husband, Randy; her thirteen grandchildren, Geoffery Deal, Ryan Deal, K.C. Van Horn, Steven Van Horn, Braxton Deal, Mitchell Deal, Jackson Deal, Allen Deal, Adam Deal, Austin Deal, Zackary Deal, Tylor Deal and Brandyn Deal; and her ten great grandchildren. Carole also leaves behind, her lifelong friends, Charlotte McCarty, Tami Derieux and Julie Parks-Riggen.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 12:05 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9th Street, Terre Haute; with Father Martin Day officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Carole’s family would like to thank Meadows Manor North for their awesome care and true love and devotion toward Carole.
